Gyvlon Ltd Binder is manufactured in the UK from Synthetic Anhydrite, an anhydrous form of Calcium Sulphate (CaSO4) and a by-product of Hydrofluoric Acid Production
Prior to the advent of the expanding market for Calcium Sulphate screeds, the majority of this by-product was disposed of by Landfill in the UK.  However, the production of Gyvlon Binder significantly reduces the impact on the environment by converting this product into a cost effective screed solution for the construction industry.

By comparison with traditional sand and cement screed, the manufacture of Gyvlon Binder uses significantly lower energy as it starts with an existing waste product. The subsequent processing to produce the binder is also more energy efficient when compared to thermal anhydrite, which requires calcining at high temperatures prior to use.

The Gyvlon Binder is delivered direct to concrete plants in bulk tankers and stored in silos for conversion to screed mortar as required.  This avoids the generation of unnecessary amounts of waste packaging with associated disposal requirements and environmental impacts. The use of Gyvlon flowing screed can generate little or no waste on the construction site, as material is ordered from the concrete plant to meet the specific needs of the applicator on the day.  This includes the ability to order part loads to finish pours, thus further reducing waste, disposal costs and environmental impacts.

Gyvlon screeds have better thermal conductivity than traditional sand and cement screeds.  This means they are ideal for use with under floor heating, resulting in significant energy savings and running costs once the building is occupied.

In certain circumstances, Gyvlon Screeds can give the same strength performances as a thicker traditional sand and cement screed.  By laying thinner screed, fewer building materials can be use in construction, particularly for multi-storey buildings.  This results in both financial and environmental savings.
